God has much to say in the Bible about a joyous married life. Prayerfully
look up each Scripture reference in this Bible study, read the verse,
then write your answer to each question in your OWN words. Before you
begin, pray, asking God for wisdom and willingness to understand what He
is saying to you. First, please write your definition of love:
THE HUSBAND
Turn to Ephesians, Chapter 5. God's basic command for all husbands is (Verse 25).
1. What KIND of love are you to have for your wife? (Verse 25)
How is this divine-kind of love to be expressed?
Yes, Jesus' own sacrificial love for us is the only kind of love we can
afford to have for a wife. This divine love gives the wife everything she
needs that is BEST for her — it does not give her what she necessarily
wants or desires, however. Jesus gives to us His best.
2. Where can we get this powerful love? Romans 5:5
How can we understand God's love? 1 John 3:16
What must we be willing to do for other Christians? Verse 16
What then must you daily be willing to do for your wife?
This “laying down your life” is really another way of expressing the
“rules” of love in 1 Corinthians 13, the love chapter of the Bible.
3. How MUCH are you to love your wife? Ephesians 5:28
4. What does God hold you responsible to do for your wife? Ephesians 5:29
With whom are you to live? Ephesians 5:31
5. What is one reason for marriage? 1 Corinthians 7:2
6. What does God call your body? 1 Corinthians 3:16
7. What is your body for? 1 Corinthians 6:13
To have any sex relationship with anyone but your wife is adultery and is to
(1 Corinthians 6:15)
What is the penalty for adultery? 1 Corinthians 3:17, 18

His own divine love for your wife?

LOVE IS A DECISION:
Love is a commitment of one's will to what is best for someone else as
long as they live. It is not an emotion, but produces emotions.
“Feeling in love” or no longer “feeling in love” is
completely apart from the Bible concept of love. Love always expresses
itself in giving. Romans 5:8
NOTE: Why not share your study with your husband or wife after both of
